Do you offer solar monitoring?
Yes. We offer monitoring as an optional service.
Monitoring allows us to ensure your system is working as it should be. If it’s not working how it’s supposed to, we let you know. Some customers find they enjoy keeping an eye on the numbers too. Solahart provides the app for monitoring your Solar PV, while Tesla’s app monitors the battery performance.
While monitoring is ideal, you can still enjoy all the benefits of solar without a monitoring system. Paying attention to your quarterly electricity bill should alert you to any abnormalities.
If ever you’re unsure, just give us a call.
Can I add extra solar panels to my existing system?
Yes. We do this often. We look at what is installed, the roof capacity, cable sizing, etc., and go from there.
In some cases, we will recommend replacing the entire solar system. This is only done when necessary, such as when a system is already at capacity. If we replace an old solar system with a modern one it’s because it is more efficient or suitable to the customer’s needs.
We do not push unneeded products. If we believe a product will help a customer reach their goals, we will recommend it. If not, we won’t. Simple as that.
Will solar power cover my electric heating usage?
Yes. We know how to design solar systems that support our customer’s energy requirements all year round.
Winter in the Orange and the Central Tablelands can be harsh and unforgiving. At the same time, gas prices are going through the roof. This puts an unfair burden on everyone. We’re here to support the community in its transition to cheaper, sustainable energy sources.
Can you install solar on an older house?
It’s most likely possible, but we will come out and check to be sure. A thorough on-site visit guarantees you the right system for your needs and ensures the solar system will be supported by your existing infrastructure.
As a rule of thumb, anything older than 20 years should definitely be reviewed prior to installation. We will never promise anything over the phone until we’ve assessed your home.
Can you install solar on a new-build house?
Absolutely. We will arrange a face-to-face consultation either at the building site or your existing house to discuss your options. We can design a system from a set of plans, but meeting you to better understand your lifestyle, home design and energy use helps us to tailor the system to your specific needs.
Will I need to upgrade my meter or board when adding solar power?
Potentially. If your house is older than 20 years it will definitely need to be reviewed. Anything before the 1980s most likely will need board and/or meter upgrades if it hasn’t had one already.
Don't be concerned, we'll inspect it during our on-site solar assessment and go from there.
Why do I need to upgrade my meter or board when adding solar power?
Using the wrong meter stops the solar going into the grid. Until the meter is adjusted to the right specifications, you won’t receive any benefit from the solar system. Meter changes are not always simple. Sometimes complete board upgrades can take another day in themselves.
We are highly experienced in meter and board upgrades, and can handle it in a way that is minimally disruptive. Then we can move on to the fun part - installing your brand new solar power system!
